Horse rider wearing correctly fitted riding hat

To protect properly the hat must be fitted correctly, ideally by someone who has attended a BETA hat fitting course.

Currently hats must conform to PAS015 or BSEN1384 but from 1st January 2016 hats which are solely made to BSEN1384 will NOT be permitted in BHS approved centres. Look for PAS015 when buying a new hat. To comply with new European safety standards all new riding hats must have a CE mark.

Take Care of Your Hat.
If the hat suffers a severe impact - even being dropped on to a hard surface - it should be thrown away and a new one purchased.

Remember: it is easy to replace a hat, but impossible to replace a head!
